Attorneys facing complex matters often require more than information—they require a strategic investigative capability.
Strategic Capability Group was founded on the premise that effective representation depends upon the development of facts, witnesses, records, and relationships that may not be immediately apparent from the available evidence. For more than three decades, founder John Pandos has assisted counsel in criminal defense, complex civil litigation, environmental liability matters, and other high-consequence cases where facts matter and outcomes carry significant consequences.
SCG assists counsel through witness development, records analysis, chronology reconstruction, factual investigation, and strategic case support designed to identify and document information that may materially affect the understanding and evaluation of a matter.
The objective is straightforward: uncover, document, and organize facts that enable counsel to make informed decisions and present the strongest possible case on behalf of their clients.
STRATEGIC INVESTIGATION BEGINS WITH A PLAN
Every investigation operates within practical limitations of time, resources, and budget. Effective investigation is not measured by the number of hours expended, but by the ability to identify and pursue information most likely to affect the outcome of a matter.
A significant portion of effective investigation involves identifying individuals who may possess relevant information but whose existence or importance may not be immediately apparent from the available records. Through records analysis, chronology development, document review, and witness development, Strategic Capability Group assists counsel in locating, evaluating, and interviewing individuals whose information may materially affect the understanding of a matter.
The objective is not merely to interview known witnesses, but to identify and develop sources of information that may otherwise remain undiscovered.
SCG works with counsel to develop focused investigative strategies designed to maximize the value of available resources while concentrating efforts on issues most likely to affect the representation of a client.
CRIMINAL DEFENSE INVESTIGATIONS
Every investigation is conducted within the constraints of time, resources, available information, and the perspective of the investigator conducting it. As a result, potentially relevant witnesses, records, facts, or alternative explanations may not always be fully identified or explored.
In many matters, defense counsel seeks investigative assistance because important questions remain unanswered. Witnesses may not have been located, individuals with relevant information may never have been interviewed, or factual assumptions may have developed before all available information was considered.
Strategic Capability Group assists counsel by independently examining the facts of a matter, identifying potential sources of information, locating and interviewing witnesses, reviewing records, and developing investigative leads that may materially affect the understanding of a case.
Representative matters have included serious felony investigations, homicide-related matters, witness development, chronology reconstruction, and evidentiary review in support of criminal defense counsel.
COMPLEX CIVIL LITIGATION & PRODUCT LIABILITY
Complex civil litigation often involves competing factual narratives, extensive documentation, and events that may have occurred months or years before litigation begins.
Strategic Capability Group assists counsel through witness identification and interviews, records retrieval and analysis, chronology development, factual research, and investigative support designed to clarify disputed issues.
Experience includes matters involving wrongful death, product liability, business disputes, and other complex litigation requiring detailed factual investigation. Investigation has assisted counsel in developing information relevant to liability, causation, damages, and exposure assessment in a variety of civil matters.
The focus remains consistent: develop reliable information that enables counsel to make informed strategic decisions on behalf of their clients.
ENVIRONMENTAL LIABILITY & REGULATORY INVESTIGATIONS
Environmental and regulatory matters frequently depend upon historical facts, operational history, documentary records, and witness information that may span decades.
These matters often involve multiple potentially responsible parties, historical industrial operations, complex ownership histories, and factual issues extending back fifty years or more.
Strategic Capability Group has experience assisting counsel in matters involving environmental liability, Superfund-related investigations, historical site activity, corporate history, and regulatory issues requiring extensive factual development.
Investigation in these matters frequently requires reconstruction of historical events, identification of former employees and witnesses, analysis of corporate relationships, development of historical timelines, and recovery of records necessary to evaluate liability and exposure.
SCG assists counsel in understanding the historical realities of complex environmental and regulatory matters where facts developed decades earlier may continue to have significant consequences today.
